Welcome to the website of the Marine Renewables Industry Association (MRIA) which represents Ireland's Marine Renewables community in the fields of Wave and Tidal Energy. The Association includes firms engaged in device development and manufacture, developers of projects and sites based on Marine Renewables, academic researchers, consultants, professional firms and contractors.
The Association is an all-island body.

Next OPIN Event: Edinburgh 1st December

OPIN (Ocean Power Innovation Network) is a joint initiative of the government development agencies and key interests in Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland involved in ocean energy.
OPIN will be a membership-by-invitation only network devoted to collaboration, learning, innovation and personal interaction in ocean energy technology development.
The next event will be held in Edinburgh on 1st December - eligibility and booking details will follow shortly.
The first workshop in 2017 is scheduled for Belfast on 23rd February.

DCCEA opens 12 week consultation on Ocean Energy Environmental Impact Processes.

DCCEA has published two key documents:
Preparation of Environment Impact Statements (EIS) and Natura Impact Statements (NIS) for offshore renewable energy projects
Guidance on Marine Baseline Assessments and Monitoring Activities to evaluate potential environmental impacts of renewable energy projects in the marine area.
The deadline for submissions is Friday 16th December 2016.

OceanEd Courses by MaREI

As a direct result of the stakeholder consultation carried out in 2015, OceanEd are providing two events during the autumn of 2016.
Event #1 – Introduction to Wave Energy will take place on Monday 17th of October.
Event #2 – Wave Tank Testing will take place on Monday 14th of November.
The location for both events is the Beaufort Building, Ringaskiddy, Co Cork

These events are part of Tony Lewis’ Wave Energy Course and are free to attend. However you must register as spaces are limited.

Ocean Energy Europe 2016, Brussels, 8-9 November

Ocean Energy Europe’s annual conference & exhibition is the most important gathering of the year for the ocean energy sector in Europe. It brings together over 400 professionals for two days of networking, business intelligence and best practice exchange. Delegates come from all parts of the ocean energy sector, including major technology & project developers, supply chain actors and research institutes, as well as decision-makers from national governments and the EU institutions.

Offering unrivalled networking opportunities, the lively 1250m2 exhibition hall will be home to companies and organisations from across Europe, representing a broad cross-section of the industry. Senior political and industry figures have already confirmed their participation in the conference, with more confirmations expected soon. The wide-ranging speaker line-up will cover the industry’s latest projects and products, and will address those topics which are crucial for the sector in 2016, including deployment of arrays, financing against a backdrop of budget cuts, and the latest technical innovations.

Amongst those speaking are:
Karmenu Vella, European Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries
Marie-Christine Marghem, the Belgian Minister of Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development
Bart Tommelein, the Flemish Minister for Finance, Budget and Energy

You can also discover new people and projects via the prestigious gala dinner and a range of side events taking place alongside the main event which is supported by some of ocean energy’s biggest names, including DCNS, West Normandy Marine Energy (ONEM), DP Energy, Schottel and Invest in Cornwall.
